Violets Defeat North Carolina Wesleyan 9-0

The New York University women's tennis team, ranked #19 in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), defeated North Carolina Wesleyan College 9-0 on Sunday, March 1, at the Stadium Tennis Center in the Bronx, NY.

With the victory, the Violets are now 3-0, while the Lady Bishops stand at 2-2.

In doubles play, the Violets started off strong. Anna Maria Buraya (Toronto, Canada/Bayview Glenn School) and Karina Jensrud (Olso, Norway/Laurel Springs School (Ojai, CA)) won the #1 match 8-2, Judy Kam (Beijing, China/University) and Rupa Ganesh (San Jose, CA/Lynbrook) won the #2 match 8-6, and Kate Shaffer (Ann Arbor, MI/Greenhills School) and Anastasiia Balyk (Odessa, Ukraine/Boca Prep International) won the #3 match 8-1.

NYU carried the momentum from doubles play into singles, winning all six matches.

"Another good match in the books today," said Assistant Coach Ben Lee. "We took care of business, played tactical tennis, and the results bear the fruits of our efforts."
