NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Christopher Newport women's tennis wrapped up a busy weekend of action at the CNU Invited with mock duals against Longwood, North Carolina Wesleyan, and Norfolk State between Saturday and Sunday. Playing at the James T. and Sarah C. Eyre Courts, the Captains welcomed well over 100 players, coaches, and fans for the season-opening event. 

CNU also faced Washington College on Friday to kick off the event. Combined, Raine Weis, Megan Bauer, Karina Crivtonencu and Reagan Delp led the Captains in total wins over the weekend with two apiece. In doubles, Logan Glen joined Weis, Bauer, and Delp with three wins at the CNU Invite. 

In Saturday's mock dual against Division I Longwood, Kiersten Chang and Kendra Womack earned wins for the Captains against the top-tier competition in singles play. Chang defeated Nina Hederich (3-6, 6-4, 10-8) and Womack captured a straight set win over Zoe Barton (6-1, 6-4). 

Three Captains earned singles wins against N.C. Wesleyan as Karina Crivtonencu, Megan Bauer, and Logan Glen each captured straight set wins for the Captains. Crivtonencu defeated Julie Schoorsman (6-1, 6-2), Bauer downed Juana Baudrix (6-0, 6-1), and Glen never gave up a game against Miguelina Paiva (6-0, 6-0). 

On Sunday, CNU grabbed four singles wins against Division I Norfolk State including on the top line with Reagan Delp taking care of her counterpart in an exciting match. Delp defeated Amber Fuller 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (6). The freshman, Weis, also went three sets for her first career win over a Division I opponent. Taking on Norfolk State's Breana Cook, Weis dropped the first set before bouncing back for a 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (6) victory. Crivtonencu made it a two-win weekend with a straight set finish against Zada McMorris (6-2, 6-1) and Bauer did the same with a win over Niya Grant (6-0, 6-2). 

In doubles action, Bauer won against Washington College with Crivtonencu and then paired with Logan Glen for an 8-2 win against Norfolk State. GLen also played with Ana Clara Borga to capture a doubles win against the Battling Bishops, 8-0. Delp and Weis won once on Saturday and once on Sunday, defeating opponents from NC Wesleyan dnad Norfolk State. 

Christopher Newport will return to action at the ITA Southeast Regional Championship from September 24-27 in Fredericksburg, Va.
