ROCKY MOUNT, NC - The NC Wesleyan College baseball team used a Jackson Murray grand slam and a Davie Morgan walk-off RBI double to knock off 2nd ranked Randolph-Macon College 8-7 in 10 innings in game three of their series on Sunday afternoon at Bauer Field.

GAME 3: NCWC 8, #2 RMC 7 (10 innings)

The thrilling win was the Bishops' 7th win in their past 8 games as they improve to 8-2 on the year. Their only loss in that timeframe was earlier Sunday as they fell 12-7 in the completion of the suspended game two of the series.

Wesleyan got off to an early 1-0 lead on freshman 1B Jackson Hobbs' sacrifice fly before a Zach Lyon RBI groundout and sophomore 2B Davie Morgan's RBI triple made it 3-1 after 3 innings.

After RMC cut Wesleyan's lead to 3-2 in the 5th, Murray would then give the Bishops a 7-2 lead with his grand slam over the left-field wall scoring shortstop Nate Hibbs, Morgan, and catcher Brad Pennington. The home run was sophomore DH Murray's first of the year as he went 3 for 4 on the day.

RMC (1-2) would then rally back scoring 5 runs over the 6th and 7th innings off Bishop freshman relievers Cullen Davis and Danny Thompson to tie the game at 7 after 7 innings. Thompson, however, would then settle down nicely and proceed to shut out the Jackets over the final three innings allowing just two hits and 3 walks with 7 strikeouts, a new season-high to pick up the win.

The win came in the 10th inning as Hobbs would get on base with a hard-hit single to left while Morgan then followed with his 2nd walk-off hit of the season. Morgan roped a double deep into the left field corner sending Hobbs racing around the bases as he would come home to score the winning run while his teammates then mobbed him and Morgan in celebration. Morgan finished the day 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and a triple. Infielders Hobbs and 3B Tyson Bass also recorded multi-hit games for the Bishops.

Senior starting pitcher Drew Tubb pitched 5 quality innings as well allowing 5 hits and 2 runs (1 earned) on 4 walks and 3 strikeouts.

The Bishops will look to keep playing well as they next stay home to host CNU on Friday at 2 PM.

GAME 2: #2 RMC 12, NCWC 7

Wesleyan got out to a quick 2-0 lead in game two on Saturday before RMC came back with 3 runs over the 3rd and 4th innings to regain the advantage. After Wesleyan tied it at 3 in the top of the 5th, RMC came back in the bottom half to hit a grand slam of their own to make it 7-3. An RBI double from Hobbs and a RBI groundout from freshman David MacCallum then cut RMC's lead to three at 8-5 heading into the 8th inning.

The game then resumed in Rocky Mount on Sunday with the Jackets tacking on 4 insurance runs in the bottom of the 8th before the Bishops scored two runs in the ninth on a Morgan rbi single and a Hibbs sac fly to make the final 12-7.

Morgan finished game two 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs while LF Zach Lyon went 2 for 3.

On the mound, freshman starter CJ DiBenedetto threw 4 innings allowing 3 runs on 2 hits with 4 walks and 3 strikeouts. Senior reliever Kevin Williams also tossed 3 innings of relief allowing four earned runs on 3 hits with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts.
