Carter and Murray Named USA South Pitcher & Player of the Week; Team Ranked 9th

Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Derrick Carter, N.C. Wesleyan - Carter helped get the #9 Bishops off to a great start in the pivotal series with Peace on Friday by throwing a 4-0 shutout over Peace tossing 8 innings allowing just 5 hits and no runs with a walk and 12 strikeouts, a new career-high.

Carter is now undefeated on the year at 5-0 with a 3.05 ERA and 47 strikeouts.

 The team is also now ranked in the top 10 in the country in the latest D3baseball.com National Poll as they come in at #9 this week with a 20-3 record. 

Baseball Player of the Week

Jackson Murray, N.C. Wesleyan - Murray led the 9th ranked Battling Bishops to a sweep of conference foe William Peace over the weekend by hitting .500 on the week and recording a hit in each game including a 3 for 3 game in the 11-6 comeback win over Peace. He also scored three runs and drove in one.

Murray is now hitting .358 on the season with 24 hits and 14 RBIs.

The duo will next lead the #9 Bishops into another tough conference series on the road at Pfeiffer University this weekend.
