FERRUM , Va. - The NC Wesleyan College Baseball team lost a heartbreaking game on the road at Ferrum College on Wednesday falling 13-12 in extra innings, their fourth extra inning contest over their past 7 games.

Wesleyan scored first with a Jackson Hobbs RBI single in the first inning before Ferrum added three runs in the bottom half off starter Payne Stolsworth. Wesleyan then exploded for 5 runs in the 2nd inning to take a 6-3 lead. RBI singles from infielders Davie Morgan, Tyson Bass and Hobbs as well as RBI groundouts from RF Alex Moskal and DH Blake Scott made up the runs.

NCWC then made it 8-4 in the 3rd with RBI singles from Moskal and Bass before they made it 12-5 in the 4th inning with CF Drifton Padgett's two-run homer and an RBI single from Morgan.

Unforutnately, the Bishops bats would go cold over the next six innings as Ferrum's pitching settled in while their offense heated up. Wesleyan would send in 7 different pitchers over the final seven innings as Ferrum would score 8 runs off three of them to steal a win. They first scored three runs off reliever Zach Woolard in the 4th before a trio of relievers, junior Alex Crosby, freshman Hunter Hill, and junior Cord Butler would combine to throw four shutout innings. However, the Panthers then scored 4 runs (2 earned) off freshman reliever Dylan Cheeley in the 8th to tie the game at 12. Sophomore pitcher Danny Thompson then threw a scoreless ninth before freshman reliever Clay Wardius gave up the winning run in the 10th on a hit, HBP and a walk.

Offensively, Wesleyan was led by three-hit games from Moskal and catcher Jean Lagreca while all four starting infielders, 3B Hobbs, SS Bass, 2B Morgan, and 1B Travis Cross all recorded two-hit games. Nate Hibbs also knocked a single as the DH.

The tough loss drops the Bishops to 17-13 on the season while improving Ferrum to 13-18.

The Bishops will now head to High Point, NC to battle Greensboro College in a doubleheader on Friday at 2:00 from HP Rockers Stadium.
