Quinderra Spellman enters his 10th season on the Battling Bishop coaching staff and serves as Assistant Head Coach while guiding the defensive line. He joined his alma mater on the sidelines in 2010 after a stellar collegiate career from 2005-2008. The 2005 USA South Rookie of the Year, he was a four-time All-Conference selection on the D-line and garnered both All-Region and team Most Valuable Player accolades as a senior.

Spellman made a name for himself as a defensive force in the USA South over the course of his career. Upon his graduation, he held the game (3.0), season (7.5) and career (14.0) records for quarterback sacks while ranking second with 32.5 career tackles-for-loss. Of his four All-League honors, three were First Team nods.

A native of Elizabeth City, N.C., Spellman led the Battling Bishops to a 25-17 overall record, 20-8 league mark, the 2007 USA South Conference Title and the program's first-ever NCAA Playoff victory during his playing tenure. As a coach, he helped guide NCWC to the 2010 conference title -- their third during a four year span that began in 2007.

Spellman received his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science in the spring of 2009. Most recently, he was honored to receive Wesleyan's 2017 Alumni Achievement Award -- an award given to an NCWC graduate within the past ten years who has already made significant contributions in society.

In addition to his coaching duties, Spellman also serves as Director of the Shelton Leadership Challenge, a week-long camp that is based off of General Shelton's values-based leadership principles. He resides in Rocky Mount with his wife, Rena, and their son, Quincy.
