WILMINGTON, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College men's basketball team increased their competition on Tuesday night as they headed down to D-1 UNC-Wilmington for an exhibition game. Unfortunately, the Seahawks were too much for the Bishops as they fell 113-53.

Wesleyan got out to a good start trailing just 9-6 early as senior center A.J. Frye scored the first 6 points for the Bishops with Wesleyan.

The Hawks, though, would go on to shoot 61 percent in the first half and take a 49-24 lead at the break holding the Bishops to 38 percent first half shooting.

It would be more of the same for the Bishops in the second half as UNCW would go on to shoot an even better 72 percent from the floor and an unbeatable 64 percent from three in the half as they put up 64 points. The Bishops were facing the toughest competition of the season on Tuesday as Wilmington hung tough with 8th ranked UNC just a week ago as well.

UNCW (3-2) held Wesleyan scoreless from the three-point line and just 35 percent from the floor overall in the game. Frye led Wesleyan with 18 points an d9 rebounds as he shot 9 of 17 on the night. Fellow senior, forward Rico Bullock then came up with 15 points on 6 of 13 shooting as they were the two mwmbers in double-figures.

Freshman guard Tim Pettiford also scored 9 points in the loss.

NCWC (0-3) will have a week off before returning home to host conference rival Averett University on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 7:00 PM.
