Bishops Fall at ECU as McDowell Achieves 1,000 Career Points

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College Battling Bishops dropped their third Division 1 game this season falling 91-62 at ECU on Tuesday evening.

Senior guard Damon McDowell led the Bishops with 26 points on 9 of 13 shooting with three treys and two steals while junior forward Isaiah Lewis also played well finishing with 14 points, 3 rebounds and 2 blocks. Freshman guard Khalid Chavis-Hinds also had a good game scoring 9 points on 4 of 5 shooting with 3 rebounds and 6 assists.

With the 26-point effort, McDowell has surpassed 1,000 career points. 

Wesleyan competed hard with the talented Pirates going on an 11-3 run to end the first half trailing by just 14, at 44-30. However, ECU would go on a big run to start the second half shooting 53 percent and outscore Wesleyan 47-32 over the final 20 minutes.

Wesleyan shot an impressive 56 percent in the second half as well while going 49 percent from the floor overall.

The Bishops will now return home to host their first D-3 foe of the season in rival Greensboro College on Thursday afternoon at 2 PM.
