Frye Named Men's Basketball Decade Athlete of the Week

In the absence of Conference competition in the fall semester, the USA South Athletic Conference began selecting athletes of the week based on those who earned an athlete of the week honor in a particular category within the current week over the past decade. With Conference competition resuming during the spring semester, the USA South will extend the decade athletes of the week through the entire academic year. Only athletes from current USA South institutions shall be eligible for selection. Additionally, only sports which have been sponsored by the Conference for at least three full seasons will be included. On to the Week 17 Decade Athletes of the Week...

MEN'S BASKETBALL

Men's Basketball Player of the Week
A.J. Frye, N.C. Wesleyan (December 31, 2018) - The junior center from Wilmington, North Carolina averaged a double-double of 20.5 points and 12.0 rebounds to go along with 6.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game as the Bishops went 2-0 at the Catholic University Holiday Tournament. In an 83-70 win over Babson, Frye posted a double-double of 16 points and ten rebounds with four assists and one steal. In a 91-65 victory over Medaille, Frye notched a double-double of 25 points and 14 rebounds to go along with eight assists and one steal. Also Nominated: A.J. Frye, N.C. Former men's basketball player Adrian Moore and current women's player Cydney Nichols were also nominated for decade athletes of the week in separate categories, but were not chosen by the conference.
