Wesleyan Men's Win Streak Ends at Mary Baldwin

STAUNTON, Va. - The NC Wesleyan College men's basketball team saw their 4-game win streak come to an end as they fell 91-75 on the road at conference foe Mary Baldwin on Friday night.

A high-scoring first half saw each team shoot over 50 percent from the field while combining for 96 points as the Squirrels would take a slim 50-46 lead over the Bishops at the break. MBU's eight threes in the half were a big catalyst for their 50 point outburst.

Senior wing Damon McDowell scored 19 of his game-high 26 points in the frst half as well. Unfortunately for the Bishops, their shooting fell to 32 percent in the second half while MBU's shooting increased to 63 percent as they cruised to a big win.

MBU improves to 5-8 on the season and 4-2 in the conference while Wesleyan falls to 13-5 overall and 5-2 in the East.

Junior forward Isaiah Lewis was the other member of the Bishop starters to finish in double-digit scoring with 14 points, 3 rebounds and 2 blocks while fellow forward Sal-Bey Young scored 8 points with 8 boards and a steal. Sophomore forward Kyron Kelly also tallied a double-double off the bench scoring 11 points and leading the team in rebounds with 10 in just 19 minutes.

Freshman guard Dylan Drinkwater also led the team in assists with five and steals with three on the night while fellow guard, junior Brayden Dixon tallied 5 points and 5 rebounds with 3 assists, a steal and a block.

Wesleyan continues their Virginia road trip on Saturday as they head down to Southern Virginia for a battle with the Knights at 2 PM.
