The 2021-22 D3hoops.com All-Region teams have been announced.

Players were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools, and schools and conferences were each contacted multiple times as the season wound down to remind them to make their players eligible. There were 746 players nominated nationwide. The ballot was then made available to SIDs, who voted for a predetermined number of players in their region.

It's the 21st season D3hoops.com has named All-Region teams. The regional Rookie of the Year award honors the top freshman in each region, while D3hoops.com also names a regional Coach of the Year.

Division III split up basketball into 10 regions this season. A region with 40 teams or more has three All-Region teams honored, while a region with fewer than 40 teams has a first and second team. This reorganization results in approximately 10 additional players being recognized when compared to previous full seasons.

Senior guard Damon McDowell, the 2022 USA South Men's Basketball Player of the Year, has been named to the D3hoops.com Al-Region IX Second Team, the site announced on Tuesday.

McDowell led the conference in points averaging 23.6 per game, shooting 47.7 % from the field, 40.8% on 3's, and 80.5% from the free-throw line. He also set the NC Wesleyan school record for three-pointers in a season with 87 and finished 2nd all-time in career points, with 1,968 points. He also collected 500 career rebounds in a school record 115 games.

Players from these lists are eligible for the D3hoops.com All-America teams, which will be released Saturday, March 19.

Players were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools.
