ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The 2021 USA South Men's Tennis Conference Tournament concluded on Saturday with East top-seed N.C. Wesleyan College taking home the championship on their home courts.

The 2nd ranked Battling Bishops defeated West top-seed Covenant, 9-0, to earn their 12th consecutive championship.

Junior Jhonny Acosta led the charge for the Bishops earning Tournament MVP as he went 4-0 throughout the event including winning 6-2, 6-1 at #2 singles today and teaming with fellow junior Juan Vallejo at the top doubles line to win 8-3.

Vallejo was also named to the all-tournament team as he won at #1 singles 7-6, 6-3 while freshman John Falke defeated his foe at the third line 6-3, 6-2 while teaming with sophomore Thato Holmes to win 8-4 at #2 doubles and make all-tournament team.

Freshman Valentin Mussi was then the 4th and final member of the All-tournament team for the Bishops as he went 3-0 throughout the event including winning 6-1, 6-1 at the fifth spot today and teaming with junior Max Robinson to win at the third doubles spot 8-2.

Also dominating their foes on this day were sophomores Tshepo Mosarwa and Augusto Roca as they each won 6-0, 6-0 at the 4th and 6th lines respectively. 

Wesleyan improves to 20-2 on the year with their 20th straight win while Covenant falls to 13-6.

The Bishops, #2 in the South Atlantic Regional, will next await their first round NCAA tournament regional foe which will be held in Rocky Mount from May 13-16.
