ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College Softball team used a dramatic walk off win in game one to earn a split with conference foe Greensboro College from Edge Field on Saturday afternoon.

Wesleyan first won game one 2-1 in 9 innings before the Pride won game two 3-0.

A scoreless pitching duel in game one between senior Beth Braswell and GC's Cheyanne Cox remained scoreless through 8 innings until an RBI double in the 9th gave GC the 1-0 lead. Wesleyan then rallied in the bottom half with leadoff hitter Nichole Mooney doubling to advance pinch runner/catcher MK Raynor to third before junior LF Logan Winstead singled up the middle to score both runners and help Wesleyan to the walk-off win.

Braswell threw all 9 innings allowing one unearned run on 4 hits and a walk with 5 strikeouts to get the win improving to 9-4 with a 1.36 ERA.

Game two then saw Wesleyan rack up 7 hits but could never push across any runs as GC would score three early first-inning runs to take a lead off Braswell.

Braswell again started game two in the circle and proceeded to throw six scoreless innings after the rough first as she settled down, but it wasn't enough as the Bishops could not get their offense untracked. She finished throwing all 7 innings allowing 3 runs on 8 hits with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts.

Winstead again led the offense recording two hits while Mooney, SS Meredith Mize, Braswell, 3B Kayla Molivas, and 1B Bryona Knight also recorded one hit apiece in the game. Winstead is now hitting .413 on the season with 24 RBIs and 18 stolen bases.

Wesleyan goes to 12-10 overall and 6-4 in the conference with the split with GC improves to 20-6 and 6-3 in the USA South.

The rivals will continue their series on Wednesday as the Bishops will travel to Greensboro this time for a 2 PM DH.
