Wesleyan Women Complete Perfect Conference Season

RALEIGH, N.C. - The East Division Regular Season Champion NC Wesleyan women's basketball team again rolled to another win over Meredith College 71-47 on Sunday to complete a perfect conference season at 12-0.

The top seeded Bishops (14-1, 12-0 USA South) will now face #4 seed Greensboro College (5-7) on Wednesday in Rocky Mount at a time TBA.

Senior shooting guard Kayla Johnson led the Bishops with 12 points on 5 of 10 shooting including two three-pointers, 2 rebounds, and two assists while fellow senior Javana Jones also scored in double-figures finishing with 10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and a block.

Wesleyan again played quality defense holding the Angels to just 9 first-quarter points and only 26 total first half points en route to a 38-26 halftime lead.

The Bishops then outscored Meredith 17-12 and 16-9 in the 2nd half as Meredith shot only 29 percent for the game and zero percent from three missing all of their attempts. Wesleyan, on the other hand shot 42 percent overall and 34 percent from three.

Sophomore forward Kayrisma Harrison also finished with 8 points and a team-best 7 rebounds and 2 steals while fellow forward, freshman Johnay Goddard, posted 7 points as well. Senior point guard Keorra Taylor scored seven points as well with fellow senior guard Cydney Nichols scorin 5 points with 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Sophomore guard Nyesha Best led the team with 4 assists as well while also scoring 5 points while senior wing Myrayna Watkins finished with 6 points and 5 rebounds.
