Brooke Thacker was named assistant coach for the Battling Bishop women's lacrosse program in the spring of 2020. Thacker joins fourth-year head coach Bridget Walker in her efforts to continue to build the program, which began competition in the spring of 2018.

Thacker joined N.C. Wesleyan after a successful collegiate career at D-3 Roanoke College in Salem, Va. where she was a team captain for two seasons during her playing career from 2014-2018. During her senior year she totaled 22 ground balls and caused 21 opponent turnovers along with scoring one goal playing primarily as a defender leading her team to 8 wins. She helped Roanoke to 30 wins over her career. 

Thacker joins the Bishops after most recently working at the Saint Bernard School in Uncasville, CT as the head middle school lacrosse coach and the assistant high school lacrosse coach while primarily coaching the defense. While there she personally connected with the athletes and created an environment where they can thrive and develop by educating the girls on the game of lacrosse, technical and communication skills and by instilling positivity and teamwork. She also possessed strong leadership qualities to help create a disciplined and successful team.

Brooke has also worked as the assistant lacrosse coach at the Southern Maryland Jets club team in Calvert Co., MD in 2015.

"I’m really excited about adding Brooke to our coaching staff," said Walker. "I think her experiences as a student-athlete at Roanoke College has prepared her well in order to contribute to building the program from the foundation that we have built so far. As an outstanding defender I believe she’ll have some fresh ideas to push our athletes to be better everyday."

“I am excited to get back into the game of lacrosse on the other side as a coach," commented Thacker. "I hope my experiences as a player at Roanoke can help me assist Coach Walker in continuing to build a successful program. I look forward to working with Coach Walker and the rest of the coaching staff at North Carolina Wesleyan.”

Thacker is a native of Huntingtown, MD and graduated from Roanoke College in the spring of 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and a minor in Psychology.

She currently resides in Garner, NC.
