ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College women's soccer team posted another terrific effort in shutting out the visiting Averett Cougars 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon from Scalf Field.

The game was scoreless over the first 30 minutes until freshman forward Vendela Dolsenius came onto the pitch late in the first half for the Bishops and promptly made an impact scoring her second goal of the season in the 32nd minute. She scored off an assist from junior Allison Newman as the Bishops outshot the Cougars 8-2 in the half.

The second half saw the Bishops have a few more chances including Isabel Neall's shot off the cross bar as Wesleyan looked for an insurance goal, but they would come up empty as their defense would play very strong. NCWC prevented AU from getting any serious chances at a tying goal again outshooting them 5-4 and 13-6 overall. Neall led the Bishops with 4 shots and 3 on goal.

Graduate senior goalkeeper Alicia Jacobs went on to record her fourth shutout of the season making 4 saves on all 4 shots she faced. She now has 57 saves on the year and a 1.34 GAA.

The Lady Bishops improve to 5-9-1 on the season with their second straight win and 3-5 in the East Division moving into 6th place out of 10 teams. Averett falls to 5-6-2 overall and 3-4-1 in the East.

Wesleyan will finish out their conference schedule with a road game at Greensboro at 2 PM on Sunday.
