Women's Tennis Falls to D-2 Mount Olive

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College women's tennis team fell 7-0 to a tough Division 2 foe, Mount Olive University, at home on Saturday. 

Unbeaten UMO (4-0) first swept all three doubles matches by scores of 6-3 to take a 1-0 lead.

The Lady Trojans then won three singles matches in straight sets at the 4, 5, and 6 lines to clinch the match. 

Freshman Elisa Mariotti then almost pulled off the upset win in her bout falling in a very competitive three-setter. She won the first set 7-6 in a tiebreaker before falling 7-5 in the second set. Mariotti then fell 10-5 in the third set ultimate tiebreak.

Freshman Stefanie Wilske then fell 6-3, 6-4 in a competitive top line match while junior Giulia Zanetti lost 0-6, 6-7 at the two line. Seniors Talitha Rowan, Ana Aguilar, and junior Chandler Brice also competed hard in their straight set losses.

The Lady Bishops fall to 1-3 overall and will next host Southern VA Univ. on Monday at 3 PM.
