What was your major at NCWC?

My major at Wesleyan was Business Administration with a concentration in Sports Admin.

What are you up to now?

After Wesleyan, I completed my MBA in Entrepreneurial Leadership while serving as the Graduate Assistant volleyball coach at East Texas Baptist University. I am currently a Program Coordinator for an organization called ECHO, a nonprofit in Leesburg, VA established in 1975 to provide lifelong support for adults with disabilities. We provide skill building, job placement and transportation. Our mission is to empower individuals with disabilities to achieve their optimal level of personal, social and economic success.

Do you have a favorite memory with your teammates or even NCWC in general?

I have countless memories from my time at Wesleyan, and I cherish and am so thankful for all of them. But my sophomore year, our team had the opportunity to travel to Barcelona, Spain with the women's soccer team, and it was an absolute experience of a lifetime. We had the chance to not only play volleyball against competitive teams in Spain, but to experience the culture of such a beautiful, historic city firsthand. It was my first trip overseas and I am so grateful to Wesleyan for making it possible.

How did being a student-athlete here at NCWC help prepare you for life after graduation?

I can proudly say that being a student-athlete at Wesleyan has shaped me into who I am today. I didn't realize it then, but everything that I was doing was preparing me for my future. As a student, teammate, captain, friend, etc., I had to learn time management, leadership, teamwork and was expected to take charge on the court with confidence and give my teammates someone that they could trust. All of which have rolled over into my professional and personal life, and they are day-to-day abilities and talents that I feel can easily be taken for granted. I owe all of it to Wesleyan and to volleyball as a whole for not only teaching me how to be all of those things, but how important they are.

What would you tell students who are considering attending NCWC?

As I mentioned above, Wesleyan has helped shape me into who I am today. When people ask me why I chose to attend Wesleyan, I tell them that God put it on my heart that it was where I was supposed to be. When I came for recruit day one cold, windy day in February, I felt right at home when I stepped onto the campus. The coaches and girls on the team treated me like I was already family and I can't say that for any other school that I visited. Wesleyan introduced me to some of the best people in my life, and I will forever be grateful for that. Just like every opportunity in life, it is what you make of it. Trust your gut and trust God, above all else!
