Vicky Gentile was promoted to head coach of the North Carolina Wesleyan volleyball program in the spring of 2015 after serving four seasons an assistant with the Battling Bishops. She joined NCWC in 2011 after serving in a similar capacity at Baldwin Wallace University, and upon her arrival in Rocky Mount, the Ohio native promptly helped guide the Bishops to back-to-back 20-win seasons.

Prior to Wesleyan, Gentile's stint at Baldwin Wallace saw her gain valuable experience in recruiting, on-court coaching, and game-day management. Her previous coaching experience also includes work at the high school and club levels, as well as clinic development and instruction.

Gentile is a 2008 graduate of Clarion University with a B.S. degree in Liberal Arts and Sport Management, which included a minor in coaching. She excelled as a defensive specialist for a Clarion team that made the NCAA tournament in each of her four seasons. An All-Conference and All-Region performer, she earned Honorable Mention All-America accolades in 2007 and graduated as the all-time digs leader in Clarion history.

In 2014, Gentile earned her Master's degree in Intercollegiate Athletic Administration from California University of Pennsylvania, and in 2015, she took over a young Wesleyan program that featured 16 combined freshmen and sophomores. She proceeded to lead Wesleyan to nine victories in her inaugural campaign, recording her first collegiate coaching win on September 12th versus Guilford College. In her second season at the helm, Gentile's 2016 Bishops posted the most overall (10) and conference (7) wins since 2012, which also included securing the program's first USA South Tournament berth since that same season. Also during her tenure, Gentile has coached multiple all-conference players including Lauren Weaver (2020,2022), Tori Stewart (2015). In addition to the two all-conference selections under her leadership, Gentile has coached multiple players to reach the 1,000 career mark in digs, kills, and assists.

Gentile and her husband, NCWC Head Athletic Trainer Tim Donovan, and their daughter, Gianna, reside in Nashville, NC.
