2021 Spring Sports Festival Canceled

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - 2021- CANCELED

The USA South Athletic Conference has announced a partnership with the city of Rocky Mount, North Carolina to host the 2020 and 2021 USA South Spring Sports Festivals, but they were unfortunately canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The festival normally features the tournaments of seven Conference spring sports.

This would have been the second time that the Festival had been hosted by Rocky Mount as the 2013-2015 events were convened in the Eastern North Carolina city.

"The City of Rocky Mount was excited to work with North Carolina Wesleyan College to host the 2020 and 2021 USA South Spring Sports Festivals," shared Natasha Hampton-Clayton, Assistant City Manager. "This event would bring over 900 NCAA athletes to the area along with many other visitors and fans. The economic impact to the Rocky Mount, Nash and Edgecombe areas is tremendous and we looked forward to hosting these prestigious championships."

Rocky Mount's city limits fall within Edgecombe and Nash Counties. The city, named an All-America City in 1970 and 1999, is located halfway between New York and Florida directly on I-95 and US 64. Rocky Mount has played host to numerous collegiate events as well as regional and national recreation tournaments. The city is also home to USA South member North Carolina Wesleyan College.

"As the only NCAA Division III conference to conduct an event of this nature, the USA South is fortunate to have a community like Rocky Mount step up to host," said Dr. Tom Hart, USA South Commissioner. "The Festival has grown in size and scope while in LaGrange, GA the last three years. Bringing our championships back to Rocky Mount provides our student-athletes, coaches and supporters the opportunity to compete at a variety of first-rate venues with a workforce that knows how to get the job done."
