The 2021 D3baseball.com All-Region teams have been announced.
And the 17th ranked 33-win NC Wesleyan Baseball team had three players named to All-South Region Teams while head coach Greg Clifton was named South Region Coach of the Year.
Senior catcher Brad Pennington was honored with a First Team All-South Region Recognition while sophomore 2B Davie Morgan and starting pitcher Derrick Carter were named to the All-South Region Second Team.
All four helped lead the Bishops (33-10) to a 17-1 record and a title in the East Division, a runner-up finish in the USA South and a berth into the NCAA Regionals in Marietta, OH last week where they went 1-2.
Pennington and sophomore CF Drifton Padgett were also named to the NCAA Regional All-Tournament team for their stellar hitting last week.
Pennington led the team with a .358 average on the season and 58 hits along with 5 homers and 46 RBIs. Pennington also had team-bests .490 on-base % and a .580 slugging %.
Morgan was second on the team in hits with 54, RBIs with 44 and average at .331. Carter, who was named USA South Pitcher of the Year, led the team with 8 wins, 81 innings, 84 strikeouts, and was 2nd with a 3.76 ERA.
