Baseball Wins Road Conference Series at Brevard

Brevard, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan baseball program took the series over Brevard winning two out of three on the road. In game one, the Bishops dominated the Tornados 14-1. Senior Payne Stolsworth had a dominant performance on the hump throwing all seven innings and only allowing four hits while striking out nine. The Bishops put on a clinic offensively with six different players recording double-digit hits. Alex Moskel recorded his 3rd four-hit game for Wesleyan this season and three RBIs. Jackon Hobbs and Drifton Padgett both went yard in the first game of the series and combined for four RBIs. Gr. Senior In the lead-off spot, Zach Lyon was able to get three RBIs to his credit and recorded two hits in the game.

In game two, the Bishops lost a heartbreaking 12-11 contest, but had several players who stood out offensively. Zach Lyon picked up right where he left off recording four hits and three RBIs with a moonshot in the slugfest. CF Drifton Padgett also had a productive game at the plate getting three RBIs. DH Jaiden Barker showed why he belonged in that spot by having a three-hit game and a big part of the eleven-run effort. Unfortunately, the Bishops would give up a run in the 9th and get walked off on for their first conference loss.

The rubber match went the way of Wesleyan by a score of 11-9. The come-from-behind victory featured three 8th-inning runs to seal the series. Jaiden Barker played a big part in game three recording four RBIs and Zach Lyon was superhuman at the plate again having a multi-hit and RBI game. SS Luke Chung also had a three-hit game and had two RBIs to his credit. 

Wesleyan improves to 19-6 on the season and will travel to nationally ranked Lynchburg on Tuesday afternoon.
