Rocky Mount, N.C. - The ABCA and D3 Baseball have announced their 2023 All-Region Teams, and multiple Battling Bishops were named to the list.

Senior RHP Payne Stolsworth was named to First Team All-Region by both publications while being tabbed as Region 6 Pitcher of the Year by the ABCA. With a perfect 12-0 record and a sub 2.00 ERA, Stolsworth ends the season one win shy of the school record and one of the best seasons in the history of the school.

Stolsworth also finished the year as the NCAA wins leader and top twenty in the nation in several categories such as ERA and strikeouts.

Junior 1B Jackson Hobbs also finished his 2023 season as First-Team All-Region by D3 Baseball and Second-Team All-Region by the ABCA. Earlier in February Hobbs was named the ABCA DIII Hitter of the Month in February, which is the first time in school history a Battling Bishop has earned the prestigious honor. 

In the 2023 campaign, Hobbs batted .391, with 61 RBI, and 11 HR which is tied for the most in a single season under the Greg Clifton era tied with fellow teammate RF Tyson Bass. 

Senior LF Zach Lyon was named to both regional teams being tabbed Third-Team All-Region by D3 Baseball and Third-Team All-Region by the ABCA. During his five years with the Battling Bishops, Lyon has been a part of two NCAA Tournament victories which is the most in program history since 2006's CWS appearance. 

This season, Lyon hit .380 with 42 RBI, and 4 homers which qualifies as a top-three batting average on the team and one of the best in the USA South.
