ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College men's soccer team fell 1-0 against Div. 2 Barton College at home on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bishops played in another defensive low-scoring home match as they struggled to find goals against a quality Barton team that has terrific depth in its lineup. Wesleyan was outshot by the Bulldogs throughout the game, but freshman goalkeeper Frederick Rogers kept the Bishops in it by making 8 saves on 9 shots on goal. It was Rogers' first start and action of the season and played very well throughout.

A scoreless first half saw Barton limit Wesleyan's offensive chances before the Bulldogs eventually broke through in the 69th minute on a nice goal that saw a cross pass set up a streaking forward for the goal that beat Rogers.

Wesleyan then saw its best opportunity to score with about 10 minutes left as freshman forward Orri Bjornsson sent a shot just high over the cross bar. Junior midfielder Gonzalo Brodsky also had a shot on goal in the first half.

Wesleyan falls to 2-5-2 with the loss while Barton improves to 4-2. The Bishops will return to action on Saturday as they begin USA South play with a game at Averett at 1 PM.
