Tennis Trio Earns Program's First All-American NodsJune 18, 2012North Carolina Wesleyan men's tennis players Rinat Khussainov, Robert Kjellberg and Alexey Rumyantsev have become the first three Battling Bishops in program history to earn Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American honors. Additionally, the final ITA team poll lists Wesleyan with a #13 national ranking for the season.

Modise Coaching Era Ends at NCAA ChampionshipsMay 25, 2012North Carolina Wesleyan head men's and women's tennis coach Dominic Modise saw his Battlng Bishop tenure come to an official end on Thursday afternoon at the 2012 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships in Cary. Having established NCWC tennis on the national scene over the past five seasons, Modise will now take the helm of the women's program at the University of Southern Mississippi, an NCAA Division I affiliate and member of Conference USA.

NCWC Falls to Emory, Trio of Bishops AdvanceMay 13, 2012The North Carolina Wesleyan men's tennis team fell to 2nd-ranked Emory University by a 5-1 score in Sunday afternoon's NCAA regional championship. While the team's season may have ended in the Sweet 16 for a second straight season, three Bishop players will continue play in the singles and doubles competition of the 2012 NCAA Division III Championships.

Battling Bishop Men Advance to Sweet 16May 12, 2012Behind the stellar play of sophomore Robert Kjellberg, the North Carolina Wesleyan men's tennis team cruised to a dominating 5-1 victory over Whitman College on Saturday afternoon in Atlanta. The win sends the Bishops to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament and sets up a regional championship match between 19th-ranked Wesleyan and 2nd-ranked Emory on Sunday.

Men's Tennis to Face Whitman in NCAA OpenerMay 09, 2012After capturing a fourth straight USA South Tournament crown and NCAA berth back on April 15th, the North Carolina Wesleyan men’s tennis team has waited three weeks to learn its fate for the upcoming Division III Tournament, but now the Bishops have to wait no longer. Head Coach Dominic Modise’s team learned on Monday afternoon that they have earned a first round bye and will face Whitman College of Walla Walla, Wash. in second round play this weekend.

Athletics Hosts 47th Annual Awards CeremonyApril 17, 2012The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics hosted its 47th Annual Awards Ceremony on Monday, April 16th, in the Garner Lobby of the Dunn Center. Coaches, staff and student-athletes came together to celebrate the accomplishments of both individuals and teams from the 2011-2012 season. Among those athletes and teams, NCWC boasted 50 USA South All-Conference selections, three USA South Championships, two Players of the Year, one Coach of the Year and one NCAA tournament berth. Highlighting the night’s winners were the honors given for the Male and Female Student-Athlete of the Year, along with the Male and Female Athlete of the Year.

Bishops Capture USA South Tourney ChampionshipApril 15, 2012For the fourth straight season, the North Carolina Wesleyan men's tennis team has captured the USA South Tournament Championship! The top-seeded Battling Bishops did so with a 7-2 victory over 2nd-seeded Christopher Newport on Sunday in Burlington.

Modise, Kamegne Top USA South Tennis AwardsApril 11, 2012The USA South has announced its postseason awards for men's and women's tennis with a total of 55 student-athletes being named to their respective All-Conference teams. North Carolina Wesleyan, whose men claimed a fourth straight regular season title and whose women clinched a share of their first league crown, boasted 13 honorees. Head Coach Dominic Modise paved the way with his fourth consecutive Coach of the Year honor in men's tennis, while freshman Yvonne Kamegne was tabbed the league's Rookie of the Year on the women's side.

Wesleyan Continues USA South Tennis DominanceApril 01, 2012With a 9-0 sweep of Ferrum on Saturday followed by an 8-1 victory over Greensboro on Sunday, the men's tennis team of N.C. Wesleyan continued its recent dominance of USA South opponents, moving to 12-2 overall and 5-0 in league play. The victory assures the Bishops of at least a share of their fourth straight conference title, which they will look to capture out-right on Wednesday versus Methodist.

Sophomore Robert Kjellberg was a three-set winner at the #2 slot and is currently ranked #24 in the nation, #7 in the region.

Bishops Down #16 Eagles, Upset by #21 TartansMarch 24, 2012The Battling Bishop men's tennis team of North Carolina Wesleyan turned in an impressive 6-3 victory over #16 Mary Washington on Friday, only to suffer a 5-4 upset at the hands of #21 Carnegie Mellon on Saturday. Currently ranked #5 in the nation, the Bishops are now 9-2 overall.
