    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2012-2013 Academic All-Conference Team, and North Carolina Wesleyan is pleased to announce that 62 Battling Bishops have garnered recognition.

    North Carolina Wesleyan's Robert Kjellberg and Artsiom Prostak became the first tennis duo in program history to play for the NCAA Division III National Championship on Saturday afternoon, but the Bishops would come up just short versus Emory en route to a runner-up finish.
  • Kjellberg, Prostak Advance to National Semifinals

    N.C. Wesleyan junior Robert Kjellberg and senior Artsiom Prostak have advanced to the semifinal round of the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Doubles Championships hosted by Kalamazoo College. The Battling Bishop duo ousted the Bates College duo of Matt Bettles and Rob Crampton on Friday evening in three sets (3-6, 6-3, 6-1).
  • NCAA Announces Draws for Individual Championships

    The NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Committee has announced its draws for the 2013 NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Individual and Doubles Championships. North Carolina Wesleyan earned seeds in both brackets, as junior Robert Kjellberg was tabbed #6 in singles while he and senior Artsiom Prostak earned a #3 seed in doubles. Both will begin their pursuit of the program's first national championship on Thursday.
  • NCWC Falls to Emory, Pair of Bishops Advance

    After posting a 5-3 victory over Washington & Lee in Thursday's first round action of the NCAA D-III Tournament, the North Carolina Wesleyan men's tennis team fell to 4th-ranked Emory University by a 5-1 score in Friday's second round. While the team's season may have ended, a pair of Bishop players will continue play in the singles and doubles competition of the 2013 NCAA Division III Championships, which are slated to begin in Kalamazoo, Mich. on May 23rd.
  • NCWC Tennis to Face Wash & Lee in NCAA Opener

    After capturing a fifth straight USA South Tournament crown and NCAA berth back on April 14th, the North Carolina Wesleyan men's tennis team has waited three weeks to learn its fate for the upcoming Division III Tournament. Head Coach Worth Richardson's 23rd-ranked Bishops learned on Monday afternoon that they will face 21st-ranked Washington & Lee this Thursday, May 9th.
  • Athletics Hosts 48th Annual Awards Ceremony

    The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics hosted its 48th Annual Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 24th, in the Garner Lobby of the Dunn Center. Coaches, staff and student-athletes came together to celebrate the accomplishments of both individuals and teams from the 2012-2013 season.
  • Bishops Capture USA South Tourney Championship

    The 2013 USA South Men's Tennis Tournament concluded with top-seeded N.C. Wesleyan taking home the championship. The Bishops swept 2nd-seeded Christopher Newport, 9-0, to earn their fifth consecutive tourney title and NCAA berth. At #1 singles, junior Robert Kjellberg went undefeated and earned Most Valuable Player honors, setting the tournament record for fewest games lost at the top seed (4).
  • Wesleyan Sweeps USA South Men's Tennis Awards

    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2013 postseason awards for men's tennis, with total of 25 student-athletes being named to the All-Conference teams. N.C. Wesleyan swept the individual awards as Artsiom Prostak was named Player of the Year, Johan Ljungdahl was tabbed Rookie of the Year, and Worth Richardson picked up Coach of the Year honors.

Junior Will Beasley picked up his first career Pitcher of the Week award in baseball, while senior Artsiom Prostak was named Player of the Week in men's tennis.
  • Men's Tennis Captures 5th Straight USA South Title

    On Senior Day at the Slick Family Foundation Tennis Center, the Battling Bishops, under first-year head coach Worth Richardson, captured their fifth straight USA South regular season title with an 8-1 win over league foe Greensboro College. The Bishops, who had previously downed Methodist by the same score on Saturday, were led by senior Artsiom Prostak with a pair of straight-set wins at #1 singles to go along with a 2-0 mark at #3 doubles.
  • NCWC Men Sweep Averett, Dominate Regional Poll

    The North Carolina Wesleyan men's tennis team has achieved another program first. In the latest ITA polls released on Friday, the 16th-ranked Bishops boast both the top-ranked singles player in the Atlantic South region (Robert Kjellberg), as well as the top-ranked regional doubles tandem (Kjellberg/Artsiom Prostak). It marks the first time in Wesleyan history that the Bishops have occupied both top spots, and they celebrated by posting a 9-0 sweep of USA South foe Averett on Saturday.

    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its weekly awards for March 25th, and two Battling Bishops earned honors in their respective sports. Sophomore J.J. Rodriguez picked up his first career Player of the Week award in baseball, while freshman Johan Ljungdahl was named both Player and Rookie of the Week in men's tennis.

    The men's and women's tennis teams of N.C. Wesleyan secured a trio of USA South wins on Friday and Saturday, as the men swept league foes Maryville and Ferrum, while the women picked up an 8-1 victory over the Panthers.

    Freshman Johan Ljungdahl went a combined 4-0 at the #1 singles and #2 doubles flights to lead his Battling Bishop men's tennis team to a pair of 9-0 USA South sweeps over the weekend at Piedmont and LaGrange, respectively. Wesleyan, which is currently ranked #15 in the nation, moves to 3-0 in league play.

    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its weekly awards for March 11th, and three Battling Bishops earned honors in their respective sports. Junior Robert Kjellberg and freshman Johan Ljungdahl gave men's tennis a third straight sweep, while baseball's Ciro Norzagaray picked up his second Rookie of the Week accolade.
  • Wesleyen Men Wrap Up West Coast Road Trip

    The 15th-ranked men's tennis team of N.C. Wesleyan wrapped up its road trip to the west coast on Friday, completing a three-day span of matches versus #16 Pomona-Pitzer, #8 Trinity (Tex.) and #4 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The Bishops opened play with a 6-3 win over Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday before dropping 6-3 and 7-2 decisions to Trinity and CMS on Thursday and Friday, respectively.

Wesleyan men's tennis began its pursuit of a fifth straight USA South title on Sunday with an 8-1 win over Christopher Newport on a cold, windy day at the Slick Family Foundation Tennis Center. Junior Robert Kjellberg continued his stellar play, teaming with Artsiom Prostak for an 8-3 win at #1 doubles before cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at #1 singles.
  • Bishops Compete at ITA Nat'ls, Sweep Weekly Awards

    The men's tennis team of North Carolina Wesleyan traveled to St. Peter, Minn. this past weekend to compete in the ITA Division III National Indoor Championships hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College. Despite a trio of tough losses versus the nation's best, the Battling Bishops were able to sweep the USA South Player and Rookie of the Week awards on Monday, as senior Artsiom Prostak and freshman Mikhail Konnov were honored by the league.
  • Wesleyan Tennis Downs #21 Mary Washington, 6-3

    The 12th-ranked N.C. Wesleyan men's tennis team opened its spring season over the weekend at a quad-meet hosted by the University of Mary Washington. The Bishops dropped their opener to 17th-ranked Case Western on Saturday, but bounced back for an impressive 6-3 win over the host Eagles, who are currently ranked #21 nationally. NCWC wrapped up the weekend with a 7-2 victory over Vassar College to move to 2-1 on the season.
  • NCWC's Kjellberg Earns National Runner-Up Finish

    Robert Kjellberg's impressive fall season came to an end on Saturday as the talented junior dropped a heartbreaking three-set decision in the USTA/ITA Small College National Championship match. The national runner-up finish, however, is the highest individual finish in the history of Battling Bishop tennis.

    Junior Robert Kjellberg and senior Artsiom Prostak competed this weekend at the University of Virginia's Fall Classic in Charlottesville. Playing among Division I competition, the two showed of their immense talent as Kjellberg won his draw's championship and Prostak took the backdraw title in his bracket.

    North Carolina Wesleyan junior Robert Kjellberg has become the first Battling Bishop in men's tennis history to win a regional championship in singles play, doing so this weekend at the Southeast Fall Regional Tournament hosted by Emory University.

    North Carolina Wesleyan men's tennis was back in action this weekend at Elon University's Fall Invitational. Robert Kjellberg, Clayton Sonn and Iraklii Marutian each made the finals of their singles back draws, while Sonn teamed with Mikhail Konnov to reach the semifinals of their doubles bracket.

The Bishops faired well in the three-day tourney with a combined 13-5 record in singles and doubles play versus Washington & Lee and UMW, who were ranked 20th and 21st, respectively, in last season's final ITA national poll.
  • Bishops Honor Local Heroes With 9/11 Passes

    September 11th is a time for remembering our fallen heroes from New York to Pennsylvania to Washington, D.C. It is also a time to recognize those local heroes that risk their lives daily to insure the safety of our Rocky Mount community. For this reason, the student-athletes of North Carolina Wesleyan annually honor our local policemen and firefighters by distributing season passes for all Battling Bishop sporting events.
  • Kjellberg Shines at ITF Futures/USTA Pro Circuit Event

    Playing at the prestigious Claremont Club, North Carolina Wesleyan men's tennis junior Robert Kjellberg won his first round match in the qualifying of the $10,000 ITF Futures event, a part of the USTA Pro Circuit. Competing as an amateur, Kjellberg defeated Jesse Schneider of Canada in the first round 6-2, 6-1 in what was his first match at the professional level.

    Following an extensive national search, the North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics is pleased to announce Worth Richardson as the next head coach of the Battling Bishops’ men’s and women’s tennis programs. Richardson’s successful track record as both a coach and recruiter, as well as his familiarity with North Carolina Wesleyan and the USA South Athletic Conference, set him apart as the perfect successor to Dominic Modise, who recently accepted a position as head women’s tennis coach at the University of Southern Mississippi.
