LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The NC Wesleyan College men's tennis team had some great results at the Grizzly Open on Saturday and Sunday down in Atlanta hosted by NAIA power program Georgia Gwinnett.

Winning a title was the unseeded men's doubles combination of Max Robinson and John Falke. They rolled to five wins on the weekend to capture the championship including defeating three teams from perennial D3 power Emory and two teams from GA Gwinnett.

The NCWC duo won 7-5 in the first round, and 6-3 in the second round over Emory teams before defeating the top-seeded unattached team from GGC 7-6 and 7-5 in the tiebreaker to advance to the semifinals. There, they beat another Emory team in a tiebreaker 7-1 to take it 7-6. Robinson and Falke then cruised in the finals 6-2 over GGC.

Also making the doubles semifinals was the 6th seeded senior duo of Jhonny Acosta and JP Vallejo. That duo first had a bye and then won 6-1 in the second round and 6-3 in the quarterfinals before falling 6-4 in the semis to the GGC team that fell to the Bishops in the finals.

Next up, the duo of Jhonny Acosta and JP Vallejo will compete at the ITA National Championship Cup in Rome, GA later this week. The women's duo of Kristal Dule and Eleonora Rescia will also be competing in the Women's ITA Cup as well later this week.
