Men's Tennis Shuts Out Brevard 9-0 in Conference Opening Round

ROME, Ga. - The NC Wesleyan College 12th ranked and top seeded men's tennis team rolled to a thorough 9-0 domination of Brevard College in the Quarterfinal round of the USA South Tournament on Thursday from Berry College in Rome, Ga.

The men improve to an astounding 26-4 on the season and will next face off against the winner of the Southern VA and Piedmont quarterfinal at 2:00 on Friday in the tournament semifinals.

Wesleyan swept all three of the doubles matches by 8-0 scores led by the top doubles duo of 3rd ranked senior Jhonny Acosta and freshman Diego Segovia, the #2 doubles team of seniors Max Robinson and Roberto Puig and the third team of senior JP Vallejo and sophomore John Falke.

In the singles, Wesleyan received 6-0, 6-0 wins by Puig at the top spot, junior Augusto Roca at the second spot, Segovia at the fourth spot, and juniors Tshepo Mosarwa and Thato Holmes at the 5 and 6 spots respectively.

Freshman Luca Knese, winner of three Rookie of the Week awards, also won his bout in dominating fashion 6-0, 6-1 at the three spot. Brevard finishes the year 6-14.
