Men's XC Finish 8th at New York

BETHPAGEN.Y. - The NC Wesleyan College men's cross country team competed in the Golden Eagle 8K In New York on Sunday and finished an impressive 8th out of 22 official teams in the meet. 

Wesleyan was the only southern team to compete and finished with 224 points while placing three men in the top 50 of the 170-person race. 

Leading the Bishops was junior Philly Barungi with a time of 28:38 to place 22nd overall. Barungi ran an average mile time of 5:46 in the 6 mile run.

He was followed by freshman Ayden Harper in 51st place with a time of 30:01 and immediately after him was junior Maleik Small in 52nd in 30:05.

Junior Terenthen Parker then came in 61st and 4th on the Bishops with a time of 30:34 while senior Keyonte Williams was 75th to finish up the team scoring for the Bishops in a time of 31:01. Freshman Noel Meza also competed and finished 113th in 34:23.

The winning time was 26:04 by a runner from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.  

The Bishops will return to the course on Saturday when they head over to Greenville to compete in the nearby ECU Invitational.
