Softball Takes Two Games in Fastpitch Dreams Tournament

Myrtle Beach, SC - The NC Wesleyan softball program defeated Waynesburg 6-2 in game one of the Fastpitch Dreams Tournament. The Lady Bishops also beat Rochester in the three-game swing in Myrtle Beach.  In game one against Waynesburg, Molly Alejandrino and Savannah Thompson had terrific offensive days combining for 5 hits in the contest. Savannah Thompson also contributed two RBIs in the contest helping Wesleyan score three runs in both the 4th and 5th innings. Shortstop Ava Lowry also had two RBI's along with scoring a run during the same inning.

On the mound, Morgan Aycock was lights out throwing 7 innings allowing 2 runs, 3 walks, and striking out 7. 

In game two where the ladies defeated Rochester 7-3, Molly Alejandrino had a record day at the plate going 3/4 with a rbi to her credit. Shortstop Ava Lowry also had another impressive game recording two hits and a rbi in the extra-inning win.

In possibly one of the most impressive outings you will see, Emily Humphery threw all nine innings of the extra inning affair and got the win. Her final stat line was 9 IP, 9 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 4 SO.

Wesleyan scored four runs in the top of the 9th to continue to incredible hot streak the team has been on these past two weeks.

In the final game of the tour, the ladies would be matched up against the #1 ranked NAIA school in the country and fell 8-0 to Madonna. In the contest, Skyler Walker, Ava Lowry, and Makayla Simmons would all record hits for the Bishops.

The softball team will travel to Elizabeth City State on Wednesday with an overall record of 9-4.
