Bishops Crush Elizabeth City State in Midweek Action

Elizabeth City, NC - In a doubleheader on Wednesday, NC Wesleyan's softball team took down Elizabeth City State in impressive fashion, hitting a record-breaking seven home runs between the two games. In game 1, the Bishops won 22-7, with Lillie Baumbach contributing two hits and two RBIs. Molly Alejandrino scored three runs and had four RBIs, while Savannah Thompson had five RBIs on two hits. The team combined for 18 hits in game 1 and scored 15 runs combined in the 3rd and 4th innings.

Game 2 was more of the same, as Wesleyan won 15-5 and scored nine runs in the 5th inning alone. Molly Alejandrino had another impressive game, with three RBIs and three hits, while Savannah Thompson had two hits and two RBIs. Ava Lowry contributed three RBIs, and Makayla Simmons had three hits and two RBIs.

Wesleyan is also currently 2nd in the nation in home runs and improves to 11-4 on the season. The softball program looks to continue its success when they host former USA South foe Averett on Saturday at 2 pm.
