Bishops Dominate William Peace in DH Sweep

Rocky Mount, N.C. - The N.C. Wesleyan softball program defeated William Peace in a DH on Wednesday by scores of 8-0 and 4-1. In the game one shutout victory, the Lady Bishops won in five innings by the run rule behind Emily Humphery. Humphery tossed an impressive three-hitter and struck out four Pacers to get the victory. On offense, Lillie Baumbach who has been a strong force at the plate this year contributed two hits and scored two runs in the contest.

Standout freshman Makayla Simmons got herself three big RBIs, a double, and a sac fly to solidify herself as one of the conference's best rookies in the USA South this season. Not to be outdone, Kary Katherine Raynor recorded a triple with an RBI in the rout of WPU.

In game two, the Bishops won a 4-1 pitcher's dual that saw Morgan Aycock toss all seven innings and only allowed four hits while striking out five. The only run the Pacers scored was also not earned and Aycock did not have a run to her credit. On offense, Mary Katherine Raynor and Savannah Thompson both had multi-hit and multi-RBI games and accounted for all four runs of the Wesleyan offense.

The Lady Bishops improve to 19-10 (4-4 USA South) on the season and will face Southern Virginia at home on Thursday.
