Softball Sweeps Methodist in USA South Action

Fayetteville, N.C. - The N.C. Wesleyan softball team swept a DH over Methodist on Tuesday. In game one, the Bishops came away with a 5-3 victory with a big insurance run in the 6th to extend the lead to two runs. At the plate, Moe Byerly went a perfect 3/3 and drove in two of the five Battling Bishop's runs. Mary Katherine Raynor also compiled an impressive day at the plate, getting a multi-hit game to go along with an RBI. On the mound, team ace Emily Humphery dominated in seven innings of work. She did not allow an earned run in game one, and struck out one Monarch.

In game two, the Bishops defeated Methodist 7-0 behind Morgan Aycock's four-hit shutout. Aycock also struck three Monarchs out. In the 7th, Wesleyan scored three runs to swing the momentum completely in the direction of Wesleyan. Freshman Makayla Simmons recorded a multi-hit and RBI game and Molly Alejandrino did the same one spot ahead of her in the order. Four of the top five hitters for the Bishops contributed to eight of the team's twelve hits in the second game.

The Lady Bishops improve to 21-10 on the season and will return home on Thursday to face Southern Virginia.
