Softball Ends Fantastic 2023 Season in Conference Tournament

Greensboro, N.C. - The N.C. Wesleyan softball program fell to Mary Baldwin and Methodist by one run each to end its 2023 season. Preseason #5 in the polls, Wesleyan had an outstanding campaign finishing third in the regular season, and winning 27 games. The season was highlighted by a program-changing win over #15 Randolph-Macon and the 600th career win by Head Coach John Brackett.

The younger group bursted onto the seams with Freshman Molly Alejandrino batting .435 on the year to earn All-Conference 2nd team honors. Transfer Lillie Baumbach took charge of the outfield in center field, finishing the year with over a .300 average. At SS, Ava Lowry completed one of the most complete seasons as a freshman at the position in NCWU school history. She hit .351 in 41 starts as a true freshman to take the reigns of the infield

On the mound, and Wesleyan's only 1st team All-Conference selection Emily Humphery finished with a 1.92 ERA in over 100 IP to cap off one of the best statistical seasons in program history. Freshman pitcher Morgan Aycock had a remarkable year as the #2 in the rotation pitching 107 IP and had under a 4 ERA with multiple shutouts.

The Lady Bishops are excited about the growth for the program this season, and excited to build off the young talent in the future.
