Women's Hoops Fall at Home to Greensboro

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College women's basketball team fell 75-57 at home to East Division leader Greensboro College on Sunday afternoon.

GC got out to a fast start running out to a 22-11 first quarter lead before holding the Bishops to just 8 points in the second quarter to take a 39-19 lead at the break.

The Bishops then came out strong in the third quarter going on a run to get within single-digits against the Pride as they outscored GC 23-16 in the third. 

Greensboro then found their stride again in the 4th taking it 20-15 for the 18-point win. GC shot 40 percent overall from the floor while the Bishops struggled shooting the ball on the afternoon going just 31 percent from the field while also making all of their threes in the second half.

Senior guard Kayla Johnson led the Bishops in scoring finishing with 19 points on five 3-pointers while fellow senior guard Keorra Taylor tallied 8 points with 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and a steal.

Junior forward K-Dot Harrison also played well defensively pulling down 15 rebounds and blocking two shots while scoring 6 points. Junior guard Nyesha Best , pictured below, also recorded 7 points off the bench with 2 assists and a steal while sophomore forward Nadia Simmons also scored 6 points. 

Wesleyan drops to 8-8 overall and 6-3 in the East while GC improves to 16-1 and 9-1 in the division.

The women return to action on Wednesday evening when they go on the road to face Meredith College in Raleigh at 6 PM.
