Lacrosse Falls at Home to UW-River Falls

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College lacrosse team fell 25-6 at home to non-conference foe UW-River Falls on Tuesday afternoon from Scalf Field.

Wesleyan broke through first as senior midfielder Madeline Graham scored unassisted two minutes into the game. However, UWRF would then go on an 8-0 run to finish out the quarter up 8-1.

The Lady Falcons then added 7 more goals inthe second quarter while Wesleyan only managed two. Graham scored her second goal of the game with 5 minutes to play while junior midfielder Blaire Harley scored her first of four in the game with 30 seconds to go in the half. Wesleyan would trail 15-3 at the break.

Unfortunately, Wesleyan could not put any goals on the board in the third quarter as River Falls scored 7 unanswered to lead 22-3 heading into the fourth.

Harley would then score three more goals of her own in the fourth quarter as each team traded three goals apiece. Harley also led the team with 8 ground balls and 4 goals on 7 shots while sophomore goalie Devin Bautz made 7 saves on 26 shots allowing 19 of the 25 goals. Bautz also tallied 3 ground balls.

Other Bishops recording three ground balls apiece were senior defenders Aydriyan Upchurch, Karlee Bjurstrom, sophomore attacker Aisling Key and Graham. Upchurch and Bjurstrom also caused two turnovers apiece as well.

River Falls improves to 3-0 with the win while Wesleyan fell to 0-6. The Bishops will next head down to Alabama looking for their first win to battle conference foe Huntindon College (2-4) (Ala.) on Saturday at Noon. Wesleyan will then face winless Warren Wilson College (0-4) on Sunday in Asheville at 2 pm as well.
