Lady Bishop Lacrosse Secures Second Straight win

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College lacrosse team rolled to their second straight win on the weekend as they pounded Warren Wilson College 15-5 on the road Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore midfielder Blaire Harley led the Bishops again with seven goals on the day while midfielder Madeline Graham scored five goals.

Wesleyan got out to a 4-2 lead after the first quarter with two goals from Harley and one each from seniors Madeline Graham and Aydriyan Upchurch off an assist from senior defender Karlee Bjurstrom.

The Lady Bishops then dominated the second quarter winning it 6-1 behind two goals from Harley, two goals from Graham, and two from sophomore attacker Nakayla Chatman as Wesleyan took a 10-3 halftime lead. Senior Deja Hartman also added an assist.

Wesleyan then won the third quarter 3-1 on 2 goals from Graham and another from Harley. Harley, a sophomore from Maryland then added two more unassisted goals in the fourth for the 10-goal win.

Sophomore goalie Devin Bautz finished the day making 2 saves on 7 shots on goal as the Bishops outshot the Owls 26-11 overall and 16-4 in the first half.

The Lady Bishops improve to 2-6 on the season while WWC falls to 1-5. NCWC will now return home to host William Peace on Wednesday at 4:00 from Scalf Field.
