Lacrosse Falls at Meredith

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan women's lacrosse team fell 23-1 on the road at 6-time conference champion Meredith College on Wednesday evening.

Wesleyan fell behind early as the Meredith Angels put up 13 goals in the first quarter of action. MC then scored seven more in the second quarter to lead 20-0 at the break.

Then, in the second half, the Bishops allowed just 3 total goals while sophomore midfielder Blaire Harley scored the lone Bishop goal on a free position shot in the third quarter.

The Bishop goalies, Devin Bautz and Makiyah Owens combined to make just two saves while Owens allowed only 3 goals.

Harley led the team by winning four draw controls while also picking up two ground balls. Also recording ground balls were defenders Aisling Key and senior AJ Upchurch while Bautz and Key also caused Meredith turnovers.

Meredith improves to 7-3 overall and 4-0 in the conference while Wesleyan falls to 4-8 and 3-2 in the conference.

The Lady Bishops will return to action next Wednesday when they come home to host Averett at 4:00 PM.
