Women's Soccer Adds New Assistant

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -  NC Wesleyan College Director of Athletics Aaron Denton and head coach Beverly Biancur have named Vanessa Batchelor as the new Assistant Coach with the Women's Soccer program after being hired in the summer of 2021.

Batchelor, a native of Nashville, NC and Nash Central HS and a former goalkeeper, will be the primary goalkeepers coach as well. During her senior year, Vanessa had a 1.17 goals against average with 59 saves and a save percentage of nearly 80%.

Batchelor graduated from NC Wesleyan in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science and was named to the President's Honor List all four years. She also completed her Master of Science in Health and Human Sciences in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Physiology in May of 2019 from UNC-Greensboro with a GPA of 3.5. 

Before coming back to Wesleyan, Vanessa was working at the Athletic Lab Sports Performance Training Center in Cary, NC as a Sports Performance Coach and helped train the NC Courage professional team.

She was also a Sport Science Analyst for the NC Courage Girls Developmental Academy in Raleigh for five months while also serving as the NC Wesleyan Soccer Summer Camp Director from 2019-2021.

Batchelor served as NCWC volunteer women's soccer assistant coach during the 2016-17 season as well working with goalkeepers.

Vanessa is a Certified High-Performance Level 2 Coach as of 2021 and has her USA Weightlifting Level 1 license in 2019. She is also certified in CPR, First Aid, and NSCA CSCS. She also has her USSF E License and NSCAA Goalkeeping Level 1 license.
