Women's Soccer Drops Opener 1-0 at Shenandoah

WINCHESTER, Va. - The NC Wesleyan College women's soccer team dropped their season opener 1-0 at ODAC foe Shenandoah University (Va.) on a rainy Wednesday in northern Virginia.

A defensive game saw only 11 total shots throughout including only three in the first half. However, SU scored the only goal of the match after 18 minutes of play on an unassisted goal.

Wesleyan would attempt three shots on goal with freshman forward Riley Benson, senior midfielder Kailey Munro and junior midfielder Sophia Sweeney all attempting one shot on goal each.

Fifth year senior goalkeeper Alicia Jacobs made three saves on 4 shots on goal.

The Bishops will next return home to host non-conference foe Bob Jones University (S.C.) on Friday at 3 PM in the first game of the NCWC Classic from Scalf Field.
