Women's Soccer Falls 2-1 at home to Methodist

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College women's soccer team fell 2-1 at home to rival Methodist on Wednesday afternoon.

The Monarchs struck first in the half scoring in the 16th minute as they took a 1-0 lead and 4-1 shot advantage into the break.

Methodist then added an insurance goal in the 64th minute scoring unassisted to go up 2-0. It was needed because the Bishops came right back and scored 9 minutes later in the 73rd minute to trim MU's lead down to one. Scoring the goal was freshman Vendela Dolsenius off an assist from junior defender Rhea Wilder. It was each their first goal and assist on the season.

Unfortunately, that would be as close as Wesleyan could get over the final 15 minutes. Senior goalkeeper Alicia Jacobs went on to make 7 saves on 9 shots on goal while junior midfiedler Isabel Neall led with two shots. The shot count was even at 7 apiece in the second half.

Methodist improves to 7-1 and 4-0 in the conference with the win while Wesleyan drops to 3-7-1 and 1-3 in the East.

The Lady Bishops return to action on Saturday when they head to Virginia to battle Mary Baldwin at 2 PM.
