Indianapolis, IN - NCAA Division III selection committee has announced its 2023 Indoor Track & Field Championship participants. The N.C. Wesleyan athletic department would like to congratulate Mariah Brooks and Ahnia Cherry for their selection in the 60-meter and 200-meter sprinting events!
The Indoor nationals will be Mariah Brooks's second appearance on the national stage as she competed in the 2022 NCAA Outdoor National Championships. Mariah had this to say, "I'm very excited and humbled to be in this position to represent North Carolina Wesleyan at the NCAA indoor Nationals. It has been very tough to get to this position where I am today, but I've been working hard on and off the track giving 100% all the time."
Ahnia Cherry is a Rocky Mount native and graduate of Rocky Mount High School, and also is honored to represent the Bishops in the national championship. "I feel blessed and very pleased to learn that I will have a chance to compete at the Indoor Nationals as a freshman in college. This is a thrilling experience knowing that I'm a part of establishing the groundwork for NC Wesleyan's track program as a young black female. I wish all the competitors the best, and hope to have an amazing time."
