RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College Volleyball team fell in four tough sets on the road at conference rival William Peace on Wednesday evening.
Wesleyan got off to a great start winning the first set 25-20 on 11 kills while hitting at a .281 clip. Peace then came back to win the second set 25-15 to level the match on 11 kills while NCWC added 8 more.
A very competitive third set then followed with Peace, unfortunately, pulling it out 25-23 to give them the advantage in the match even as the Bishops recorded more kills in the set than the Pacers, 14-12.
Peace then put away the Bishops in the fourth set controlling it 25-13 while hitting .367 with 15 kills.
Sophomore right side Michaela Seawell led the Bishops with 11 kills as she hit .233 in the match. She also added 17 digs for a double-double along with 2 aces and a block.
Also playing well was junior middle Lauren Weaver with 10 kills, 2 digs and 3 blocks while freshman setter Sloan Martin also recorded a double-double of 36 assists and 11 digs with a kill, an ace and a block.
Senior outside hitter Callie Cline recorded 9 kills with 6 digs and 3 blocks as well while junior right side Sydney Barnwell had a nice game too hitting .368 with 8 kills and 3 blocks. Senior Libero Sam Butensky played well defensively with 13 digs, 2 assists and an ace.
Wesleyan falls to 0-3 overall while Peace improves to 2-1. The Lady Bishops will now return home on Saturday to host Pfeiffer in a DH at 3 PM in their home opener.
