Bishops Contribute to Cans Across the Conference Food Drive

Rocky Mount, N.C. - The holidays are a time to give thanks and appreciate the blessings in one's life, thus Cans Across the Conference was initiated in 2004. This year, the Battling Bishops collected over 1,300 items for Rocky Mount's Peacemakers Family Center, more than doubling last year's effort for this worthy cause.

The USA South Student-Athlete Advisory Committees organized the canned food drive as a community service competition amongst the member institutions in the conference. Each campus SAAC collected cans and other non-perishable items at their school to benefit a local charity. It was up to each institution to decide how they wanted to collect and to which group the donation would go.

Overall, USA South institutions collected 50,172 items this fall. Over the 13-year history of the program, league members have donated 389,266 items to various organizations.  This year, the Bishops involved the entire Wesleyan community in their efforts.

On behalf of the NCWC Department of Athletics, we thank those who supported our canned food drive and wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!
