NCWC Athletics to Sponsor SIXTH MAN SATURDAY

Rocky Mount, N.C. - This Saturday, February 4th, our Battling Bishop men’s and women’s basketball teams will be hosting Greensboro College at 2pm and 4pm in a key USA South hoops doubleheader. Not only is Saturday Alumni Day for our basketball squads, but it’s also the start of something we hope will become a Wesleyan tradition: SIXTH MAN SATURDAY!

For anyone who may be unfamiliar with the term, the “sixth man” is used to describe a group of fans that attempt to influence the game with their intense cheering and chanting. The fan section is referred to as the "sixth man" because they are considered the sixth "player" of the team.

In an effort to create a great atmosphere for Saturday’s game, we want to pack Everett Gymnasium with Battling Bishop fans sporting as much white, blue and gold attire as possible! To help the cause, the Department of Athletics will be giving out FREE Battling Bishop t-shirts to the first 100 Wesleyan students, alumni, faculty and staff who present their ID cards in the main lobby.  Our men’s and women’s teams will also be throwing out a select number of shirts when they take the court versus the Pride.

So get out your Blue & Gold apparel and come out to campus for SIXTH MAN SATURDAY this weekend. Again, the women’s game tips off at 2pm followed by the men at 4pm.  Help us spread the word!
