Trio of Bishops Earn USA South Weekly Awards

Fayetteville, N.C. - The USA South Athletic Conference has released its weekly awards for October 24th, and three Battling Bishops earned accolades in their respective sports. Dwayne Hollis was tabbed football's Special Teams Player of the Week, while Alberto Faisca of men's soccer was named Defensive Player of the Week. On the women's side, freshman Rebecca Staylor picked up her second Rookie of the Week award in women's soccer.

Hollis, a junior from Newport News, Virginia, scored a 96-yard touchdown in a 51-33 loss to USA South rival Christopher Newport. Hollis also added a 17-yard return and nine total tackles on defense in the defeat.  In addition to his USA South honor, he was also named a BSN Special Teams Player of the Week. This is a national award and is only given to four special teams players in the country at the Division III level.

Faisca, who hails from Brunswick, Maryland, earned a 1-0-1 record last week for the Bishops versus USA South competition. The junior goalkeeper allowed one goal and collected 11 saves over the two matches. In a 3-1 win over Methodist, Faisca made nine saves with the Monarchs' lone score coming on penalty kick. In Saturday's scoreless tie versus Averett, he collected the shutout by stopping two shots.

Staylor, a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, scored two goals and added two assists in a 1-1 week versus USA South competition for the Bishops. In a 6-0 win over Peace, Staylor netting two goals in 58 seconds while also assisting on the team's second and sixth scores of the match.
