Bishop Tennis Sweeps Ferrum in League Action

Rocky Mount, N.C. - The men's and women's tennis teams of N.C. Wesleyan picked up a pair of sweeps versus Ferrum College on Saturday afternoon at the Slick Family Foundation Tennis Center. Head Coach Andres Amores shook up both line-ups to include several players seeing their first dual action of the season.

In women's doubles, the tandem of Natalia Lopez and Maria Fernanda Orona anchored their usual position and cruised to an 8-0 win at the top seed. Freshmen Sofia Prado and Florencia Sorrentino were 8-1 winners at #2, while junior Katie Beeman and freshman Ana Diaz teamed for an 8-0 win at #3.

Singles play saw the Bishops continue to dominate as Lopez, Orona, Prado, Diaz and Beeman posted 6-0, 6-0 wins. Sorrentino allowed just one point en route to a 6-1, 6-0 win at #4.

On the men's side, doubles play mirrored that of the women as top-seeded Robert Kjellberg and Sebastian Sikh posted an 8-0 victory. Freshmen Mark Sokolov and Gleb Gisis posted an 8-1 win at #2, followed by an 8-0 victory for Lucas Andrada and Carlos Pardi at #3.

In singles action, Kjellberg surrendered just one point in his straight-set win at #1, while Sikh, Sokolov, Andrada and Pardi were 6-0, 6-0 winners. Gisis turned in a 6-1, 6-2 victory at #4.

Both teams are now 4-0 in USA South play. Wesleyan's men will travel to Richmond, Va. on Wednesday to take on 25th-ranked DePauw, while both teams return to USA South next weekend at Covenant and Piedmont.
