Richard Shannonhouse was a Dixie All-Conference golfer who led the Battling Bishops to the Dixie Regular Season Championship in 1971.  That year, he was the individual champion of the Dixie Conference Tournament, leading the Bishops to a team championship that they won by 35 strokes.

Shannonhouse was a two-time Most Valuable Player for the North Carolina Wesleyan golf program.
