Wesleyan Golfers Finish 6th at Shipbuilders Memorial

Williamsburg, Va. - With two team rounds of 335, North Carolina Weselyan's golf team posted a 6th-place finish at this week's Glenn Heath Shipbuilders Memorial hosted by Newport News Apprentice. Freshman Lucas Norman led the Bishops by carding rounds of 78 and 76 to finish tied for 3rd among the field of 45 golfers.

The two-day event was held at the par-71 Williamsburg Club and featured nine teams. Lynchburg College took top team honors with rounds of 311 and 318, while the Hornets' Conrad Anguera and Ferrum's Scott Obenshain tied for medalist honors at 153 (+11), just one stroke ahead of Norman.

Junior Darren Lau also turned in a top-20 finish for the Bishops with rounds of 84 and 82 to finish 18th. Others competing for the Bishops were Allen-Michael Wilson (82-82), Stephen Bardswick (91-90) and Stefan Hauksson (92-100).

Wesleyan wraps up its 2011-2012 season this weekend at the USA South Conference Championships in Burlington, N.C.
