NCWC Golfers Finish Second at JCC Invitational

Clayton, N.C. - The N.C. Wesleyan men's golf team competed this Monday and Tuesday at the Johnston Community College Neuse Invitational. Behind two solid rounds of 295 and 303, the Battling Bishops were able to capture a second-place finish among five institutions recording team scores.

Leading the way were juniors Stephen Bardswick and Chris Freeman, who finished tied for fourth with a two-round score of 148 (+4). Finishing one stroke behind his teammates in seventh place was freshman Matthew May with a two-day 149.

Also competing for Wesleyan was senior Allen-Michael Wilson, who turned in a two-day score of 155, and sophomore Tommy Nakamura with a two-day 158. All five Bishops tallied top-15 finishes in the 33-man field.

Nick Thompson of Sandhills Community College secured medalist honors with a 139 (-5) at the par-72 Neuse Golf Club. Sandhills captured the team crown as well with rounds of 285 and 299 to finish 14 strokes ahead of Wesleyan.

Next up for the Bishops is the W&J Rossin Memorial held at Southpointe Golf Club in Canonsburg, Penn., which kicks off on Sunday, October 13th.
